The cars people would – and would not – buy again

By Herb Weisbaum, The Consumerman

If given the chance to do it over again, would you buy or lease the car you currently have?

Consumer Reports asked its subscribers that question to find out which models owners love and which ones they don’t.

Here are the models that came out on top: Chevy Corvette was the runaway favorite with a score of 97 out of 100. Then came Mazda MX-5 Miata (89), Kia Telluride (87), Ford Mustang Mach-E (87), Tesla Model Y (87), and Toyota Rav4 Prime (86).

The models the rated least satisfying overall: Kia Forte (47 out of 100), Cadillac XT4 (47), Jeep Renegade and Compass (46), Infiniti QX50 (46)and Q50 (40), Nissan Rogue Sport (42), Chevrolet Trax (37), Ford EcoSport (30), and Toyota C-HR (29).

The average price paid for a new car in December topped $47,000, according to Kelly Blue Book. That’s a new record high.
